The University of Calgary’s School of Creative and Performing Arts invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the area of Drama (Design).
The University of Calgary’s School of Creative and Performing Arts invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the area of Drama (Design). The anticipated start date is July 1 2017.
The successful candidate will establish and maintain an active professional and externally funded research-creation program, teach graduate and undergraduate courses in the area of their specialization as well as additional courses in Drama, and contribute to the graduate program. Candidates should be prepared to teach undergraduate and graduate courses as a member of a team that will develop a dynamic and technologically relevant curriculum that prepares students for the professional theatre and research in their field. Service to the School, Faculty and University is also expected.

The successful candidate should have a terminal degree (MFA) and have achieved national and/or international recognition within their career. Candidates must demonstrate an established research and/or research-creation program, including performances, presentations and/or publications and successful post-secondary teaching in the area(s) of specialization. Evidence of excellence in teaching should be demonstrated via a convincing statement of teaching philosophy, strong teaching evaluations, and a clear record of commitment to undergraduate and graduate teaching, student supervision, and mentorship. Preference will be given to candidates:
The School of Creative and Performing Arts is a community of practicing creators, performers and scholars who, with expert technical and administrative support, are dedicated to the education of artists and critical thinkers in the context of a University devoted to the formation of intelligent and engaged citizens. In addition to a deep engagement with the foundation of their chosen discipline, students have the opportunity enrich their education through structured encounters with the other disciplines in the School. Additional graduate degrees in interarts performance are currently in development. As such, experience and/or expertise in interarts and interdisciplinary practice and research will be an asset.
